Life Legacy

Dr. Richard Craig ‘Rick’ Irwin, 58, of Tulsa passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012. Rick was born on August 29, 1953 in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of Glen and Frances Irwin. Rick was a graduate of Tulsa Memorial High School, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He completed Fellowships in Developmental Pediatrics at the OU College of Medicine and at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. Rick was one of the founding partners in the first multi-disciplinary developmental pediatric practice in Tulsa. Rick was dedicated to meeting the needs of children diagnosed with developmental disorders and behavior issues as well as their families.

Rick loved to teach, and he educated both parents and professionals about the needs of children diagnosed with developmental disorders and behavior issues. Rick was a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine – Tulsa. Rick began volunteering during his high school years and gave generously of his time throughout his career. He served on local, state, and national boards and committees devote to the well-being of children.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by sisters Resa (Terry) Landrum, Becky (Bill) Queen of Tulsa, brother Randy (Barbara) Irwin of Chesterfield, MO, stepmother Pauline Irwin, and 13 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 20 at 10 am at the First United Methodist Church at 1401 East Taft Avenue, Sapulpa, OK 74066.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to Town and County School 5150 East 101st Street ∙ Tulsa, OK 74137.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
